State-of-the-art equipment and expert operators allow us to produce precision sheet metal projects quickly and accurately. Our core capabilities include laser cutting, insertions, punching, forming, welding and finishing.
Southern Specialties is on the cutting edge of laser technology with two state-of-the-art laser cutting cells. A MAZAK Optiplex 3015 Laser System and a CINCINNATI CL-6 Laser System allow us to produce high-quality pieces every time. Both machines offer a 2-D laser cutting system that processes flat-sheet materials (including carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum) from 5’ wide up to 10’ in length and from .018" to 1" in thickness.
Our welding cells connect all the pieces of the puzzle in our shop. We have tools to meet all of our welding needs including including MIG welding for the joining and melting of wire electrodes to metals. We also offer TIG welding, a higher-precision process that uses a tungsten electrode to weld steel as well as non-ferrous metals. We are also equipped with an Electric Resistance Welder for welding seams and spot welding studs to sheet metal.
The LVD Strippit ST-1212 Turret Punch Press is a top performer with a 26-station tool holder backed by 20 tons of force. It will punch sheets up to 49" X 49" with a .188" maximum thickness. It is ideal for perforating panels and forming applications such as louvers and other similar features.
We bend sheet metal with AMADA Hydraulic Press Brakes. They have impressive ± 0.000004 ram repeatability tolerance allowing us to make super accurate bends of material up to 127" in length.
Haeger is recognized internationally for its innovations in fastener insertion technology. We are equipped with two Haeger Insertion Presses using hydraulic power to press nuts, studs or standoffs into sheet metal. It has a maximum force of 10,000 pounds and an 18" throat depth.
We also are equipped with a 30-ton Strippit Super 30/30 punch machine that has stood the test of time, punching sheet sizes up to 30" X 30" with .188" thickness.
