With ceramic grills like the Big Green Egg growing in popularity, designers at Southern Specialties were tasked with creating an alternative to the stand that was shipped with the grill itself.

While stable, the included stand, with its fold-up wing shelves, could be knocked over, which ran the risk of breaking the $1,000-plus grill.

A Simple Solution

Southern Specialties’ answer, designed to fit not only the Big Green Egg but also Kamado Joe and Primo ceramic grills, offered a safe place to put the grill, along with a stainless-steel top that provided an adequate work surface while grilling. The 52-inch table also provided ample storage, with a drawer below the grill to hold all grilling accessories, and a door to a compartment big enough to hold pizza stones, charcoal containers, and other larger items.

Customization Options

A 30-inch table was also designed along with the 52-inch table, offered as an upgrade to the stand. Typically, customers added a drawer kit and shelves on each side, providing even more storage and space. A corner kit designed by Southern allowed users to bolt two tables together in a 90° layout.
